Kunming 2007 8021 Xiao Huang Yin (Sheng Pu'er)

The Kunming Tea Factory is one of the old major actors in pu'er tea production. The factory operated under state production from the 1950s onwards. Many other tea factories were privatized in the 1980s and 1990s, but the Kunming Tea Factory still operates under the state-owned COFCO Group. The Kunming Tea Factory licenses the so-called Zhongcha style of packaging, which was recognizable for almost all pu'er tea during the state production period. Therefore, the factory's teas appear to have continued the style of packaging from the state production period. The factory produces a particularly wide range of pu'er teas, and the most notable product could be considered Recipe 7581 tea, which is shu pu'er pressed into a brick-like shape.

This sheng pu'er was produced in 2007. The tea was produced according to the Recipe 8021. According to the numbers this recipe was developed in 1980, with a leaf quality level of 2 on a scale of 1-9, where 1 refers to the best leaf quality. The leaf here is therefore quite small. The last number 1 in the recipe indicates the tea producer - Kunming Tea Factory.

Infusion

Pu'er tea is infused using boiled water. You need about 3-5 grams of leaves, which is a generous tablespoon of loose tea. The tea can be brewed using the so-called gongfu technique, using a teapot of less than 300ml and infusing the leaves several times. In this case, the length of the steeping should be about 30-60 seconds. The number of leaves can also be increased, which can reduce the steeping time to 10-20 seconds. If you have a larger teapot or only want to make one brew, the steeping time should be 3-5 minutes. Adjust the amount of leaves to achieve the desired strength.
