Harmaajaarli - Earl Grey Tea

General

Earl Grey is probably the most famous spiced tea. Earl Grey is a blend of black tea spiced with bergamot fruit, most typically bergamot oil. It is named after the British Prime Minister Earl Charles Grey (1764–1845). The most popular story about the origin of the tea is that Charles Grey learned to use bergamot fruit as a spice for tea from the Chinese. Twinings produced perhaps the earliest commercial Earl Grey tea in 1831. Earl Grey is typically a fairly light afternoon tea, to which milk is not normally added. Tea is particularly important in the British tea tradition.

This tea

Harmaajaarli is Teepolku's own Earl Grey tea. It is blended from our own selection of Indian and Sri Lankan teas and spiced with genuine Italian bergamot oil, which we source directly from the producer in the Calabria region of southern Italy.

Taste

The tea has a rich aroma of black tea and a well-matched hint of the fresh scent of bergamot fruit. The taste has the firmness of black tea and a fresh bergamot tone.

Infusion

You need a generous tablespoon of tea leaves. Use boiled water for brewing. If the tea is made in a pot of less than half a liter, you can brew the leaves a few times with this amount of leaves. In a larger pot, it is better to do one longer brewing. In a small pot, the brewing time is 1-3 minutes and in a larger one 3-5 minutes. Adjust the amount of leaves and steeping time to taste.
