General

Hunan Province is a very diverse tea-producing region. The province produces excellent green tea and perhaps the most famous yellow tea. In addition to this, the province produces a whole range of different fermented dark teas. The province has perhaps an even more glamorous history of tea production, as in past centuries the tea from the province has been considered the best in the country.

This tea

This black tea from Hunan Province comes from Shimen County, which is located near the northern border of the province. The tea is a 2025 spring harvest and consists of medium-sized leaves and also includes small-sized leaves. On the Teepolku's three-A quality scale, this tea represents level one A, i.e. a competent basic tea in its own style.

Taste

The dry tea has an aroma of rye bread and sweet fruits. In the cup the aroma is ryeish and soft fruity. The taste is milk cocoa and sweet fruity and grainy.

Infusion

A generous tablespoon of tea leaves is needed. Use boiled water for infusion. If the tea is made in a pot of less than half a liter, you can brew the leaves a few times with this amount of leaves. It is better to do one longer steeping in a larger pot. In a small pot, the steeping time is 1-3 minutes and in a larger pot, 3-5 minutes. Adjust the amount of leaves and the infusion time according to your taste.
